The newly crowned Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Sabrina Mendoza Moncada. Dayana beat out 27 other candidates to win Miss Venezuela 2007 on September 13, 2007, and became only the second woman representing the Amazonas state to win. The Miss Universe 2008 pageant was held at the Crown Convention Center -Diamond Bay Resort in Nha Trang, Vietnam on July 14, 2008. Miss Venezuela was crowned by outgoing titleholder Miss Universe 2007 Miss Japan Riyo Mori. The Pageant was hosted by Jerry Springer and Mel B.

The Top 15 finalists were judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown, and interview during the broadcast. Also, the winner for Best National Costume, which was decided by online votes, was announced.
